THE BEAUTY OF GARUT

Garut is one of regencies in Indonesia’s southern West Java province. Garut is a town, with Tasikmalaya Regency to the east, Cianjur Regency and Bandung Regency to the west, Sumedang Regency to the north and Indian Ocean to the south. Its area is 3,065.19. The population is about 2,375, 725 (2006). In general, Garut has a cool but tropical climate. This area includes valley territory surrounded by volcanoes, so the soil is fertile. They are Mount Cikuray, Mount Karacak, Mount Guntur and Mount Papandayan. Streams of solidified lava are present on their slopes. The Garut Regency has two distinct topographical areas. Northern Garut consists of highlands which constitute the largest rice fields in Garut, and southern Garut mostly consists of sloping land and twelve rivers which flow into Indian Ocean. Some known products from Garut are Garut orange fruits, Garut lamb, dodol Garut and batik tulis garutan.
Garut has many facilities such as school, hospital, police station, city square and swimming pool. Many schools are located in Tarogong which is entered city area in Garut. A road crosses this area you can see government offices, hospital, police station and swimming pool. Almost facilities are in Tarogong.

Tourism objects which are more interesting are Cipanas and Cikajang. There are many swimming pools in Cipanas. Many tourists from other city which come there enjoy the hot nature water. Not only tourists from other city but also tourists from other country visit this area. This area is become many people for business with built hotels and the beautiful vacation to be enjoyed. You can feel relaxing your body if you swim there. It’s a nice place. Then there is tourism object the most interesting in Cikajang. It’s tea plantation. If you are there, you can see it which is spread around. The landscape is gentle hills. In Cikajang, there is an area where people enjoy the recreation with a beautiful nature situation. The name of place is Wanagiri. It is entered mountain area. If you are in the peak there, you will feel comfortable. All around there are gentle hills and meadows. Beyond that, waves of Pameungpeuk sea will be seen there. Pameungpeuk sea extends to Indian Ocean. The nearest village is two kilometers away a long a bumpy road. People in there are very friendly. They respect the visitor very much.
